Add some flair to your bellydance movements and take your dance to the next level.
LULU SABONGI – ORIENTAL CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
In this workshop Lulu Sabongi will teach a mejance, which is the entrance piece of a professional bellydancer routine with elements of improvisation.
Lulu signature style, rich vocabulary, mixture of simple and slow movements with more complicated and faster ones.
Mejance or opening/ “antre’’ dance is classic Raqs Sharki belly dance routine with changes of musical rhythms where few styles are combined. It is an “introduction card” for a dancer and that’s why often it’s the very first dance in her performance. Mejance demonstrates dancer’s technical skills in Raqs Sharki and folkloric styles as well. Usually it starts with Malfuf (appearance on stage) and continues with variations of different rhythms.
Workshops by Chudney:
In this workshop, Chudney will guide you to think differently about your posture and gestures on stage that will engage your audience and have them wanting more. She will then show you how to add a pinch of pizazz to your performance through a series of combinations that will bring out the confident dancer in you using simple dance elements that looks totally fancy on stage! Students will take away confident combos that they can use in their own pieces to wow their audience, or
dissect for their personal practice at home.
GTL of BELLY DANCE:
Geometry, Turns, and Levels changes.
This technique intensive class will explore unique shapes and pathways, with unexpected turns and levels changes, that often times takes the back burner when on stage, and in practice. Through a series of short combinations, we
will spark up those “key concepts”, and get mind and body back in sync. Leave your audience wondering what you will do next…add GTL to your performance. At the end of this workshop, the student will be able to add new elements to their belly dance repertoire that will help them
practice and perform more dynamically onstage.
